At BBMA we have a long tradition of families training together and many go on to achieve their black belts at the same time.
Although our classes are specialised for age, by the time your child is 8 or 9 you can train along side them in our family oriented classes. Even our scheduling is family friendly where your preschooler and early primary school child can be in class room one having their specialised age class while you enjoy your class in class room two.
We even have families of 3 generations training with us:
My son Gryffyn started karate the age of 4 with his Uncle Lito. He had an abundance of energy and we wanted to see that energy being used positively. We appreciated that BBMA provides an environment not only for physical development, but mental development and we noticed that when Gryff started soccer a few months later – he was one of the few kids who could concentrate and take direction. Learning to focus with the heart, the mind and body has become second nature for him.
My daughter Monet is two and a half years older than Gryff, and we enrolled her for different reasons. She wasn’t as confident and outgoing, and we saw BBMA as an opportunity to help improve these traits. Monet started in the leadership program and she has grown into a responsible, pro-active young girl with great confidence and self-esteem - which has also spilled into her social, school, sporting and horse riding activities.
My mother Coralie (now over 70 years of age!) and I sat on the sidelines for a while watching the kids (and Lito) develop and strengthen. We didn’t sit there for long, we started training and love it.
My husband Ben was the last in our immediate family to join. Initially with the cardio/kick boxing classes for fitness purposes and he also enjoys the technical aspects of the karate classes.
A few years on Gryff, Monet, my mum Coralie and myself are now black belts! Just waiting for Ben and Lito now to join us and we have a full house of black belts!!
There are many positive aspects to highlight with BBMA – the teachers, curriculum, environment, students and philosophy, but personally, it has been a great foundation for our lives and we are all looking forward to continuing this exciting, challenging and rewarding journey with BBMA!
